Formed in Nashville Tennessee in 2006, the country music group Lady Antebellum is comprised of members Dave Haywood on background vocals, guitar and mandolin; Hillary Scott on lead vocals and background vocals; and Charles Kelly on lead and background vocals. Lady Antebellum member Hillary Scott’s mother is Linda Davis, a country music artist from the 1990s.
In their short existence, the band Lady Antebellum has been nominated for or won several awards such as Top New Duo or Group, at the 2008 Academy of Country Music (they won); New Artist of the Year, at the 2008 Country Music Association (they won); in 2009 the band Lady Antebellum has been nominated for Video of the Year for “Looking for a Good Time”, Group Video of the Year for “Looking for a Good Time” and USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Looking for a Good Time” all nominations through the CMT Music Awards. Also in 2009 the band has been nominated for two Grammy Awards; Best New Artist and Best Country Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals.
Lady Antebellum’s music videos have been recognized time and time again through awards and nominations. The band’s video to the single “Love Don’t Live Here” has been nominated twice and the video to the song “Lookin for a Good Time” has been nominated twice as well.
The band appeared as guest vocalists for the single “Never Alone” on Jim Brickman’s hit record. Shortly after guest appearing for Jim Brickman in “Never Alone”, the band was signed by Capitol Records Nashville. Their first single released was “Love Don’t Live Here”.
Released in 2008, their debut album which was self-titled Lady Antebellum went gold and peaked at number one in the United States Country Charts, and number four in the United States mainstream charts. Three of the hit singles from their debut album are the mega hit “Love Don’t Live Here”; “Looking for a Good Time”; and “I Run to You”.
Additionally, the popular MTV reality show The Hills with Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge featured a Lady Antebellum song on one of the reality show episodes in 2007.
After “Love Don’t Live Here” was such a hit both in the country scene as well as somewhat making it mainstream, Lady Antebellum released their second single, “Looking for a Good Time” in June 2008. Shortly after the band’s release of their second single they were asked to tour with Martina McBride on her Waking up Laughing Tour in late 2008. In between touring the band released their own rendition of “Baby its Cold Outside” which peaked at number three on the Country Charts. Following this rendition, the band released their third official single, “I Run t You” in January of 2009.
